Upcoming playback singer Alyssa, who debuted on the Bollywood soundtrack “Karthik calling Karthik” started singing from the early age of 4, inspired by hearing voices of Disney Princesses and pop music Divas Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. As her singing career started to pick up, this 21 year old self-taught singer was looking for the right environment to enrich her singing and musical abilities. She noted: “Learning on one’s own can be dangerous, I didn’t develop the right breathing technique so it was critical to enroll in Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music diploma. It was the best decision I made and I have grown a great deal as both singer and performer”.
Alyssa has been a dynamic member of the SAM community participating in diverse music ensembles expanding the range of musical genres – pop-rock, ballads to jazz inspired world music, and finding her own voice through writing and performing her original songs and interacting with fellow musicians at Swarnabhoomi. She is highly appreciative of the support and enthusiasm shared by her fellow musicians studying at SAM.
While continuing her studies at SAM, Alyssa is making a strong impact in the music scene with more Bollywood songs to her credit including ‘Oh girl’ and ‘Papa Jag Jayega’ for the movie Houseful, and ‘Baby When You Talk To Me’ for the film Patiala House, and the song ‘Khaabon Ke Parinday’ has taken the airwaves by storm, for which she received a Filmfare Nomination for Best Female Playback Singer and she was voted as Best Female Playback singers of 2011 by an online magazine along with Sunidhi Chauhan, Nandini Srikar and Shreya Goshal.
