Brian Metreyeon is a 1999 Graduate of Musician Institute’s Guitar Program and received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from California State University, Chico in 2002. While at Musicians Institute he studied privately with Brett Garsed and Dan Gilbert, learned from Scott Henderson, and played extensively in numerous styles, such as Funk, Fusion, Acid Jazz, Jazz, and Rock. While working towards his degree at Chico State University he studied classical guitar and gigged extensively throughout Northern California with the Funk/Rock/R&B band Soul Maze. After graduating from Chico State, Brian relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota. During his 10 years in Minneapolis he ran a successful private lesson business out of his home, developed and taught curriculum at Minnesota School of Business, taught at School of Rock, and was a member of the guitar faculty at McNally Smith College of Music. During his 6 years at McNally Smith, Brian taught a variety of classes (Fretboard Biology, Sightreading, Rhythm Guitar Technique, Contemporary Literature, etc.), led numerous creative ensembles (Pink Floyd, Fusion, Dream Theater, Danny Elfman, G3 etc.), and taught a full schedule of private students. Along with playing in numerous variety bands while in Minneapolis, Brian also gigged with and led his own band, The Metreyeon Band, which featured Brian’s original compositions and songs from Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Frank Zappa, Billy Cobham, and others. Primarily a rock guitarist, Brian is heavily influenced by, among others, Steve Vai, Brett Garsed, Joe Satriani, Rush, and Scott Henderson.
