Guitarist and acoustic guitarist, Fabio Gouvea started his professional musical career in 2002, at the age of 22, year in which he joined the famed Trio Curupira, and has played and worked with this group since then. Pursuing an intense and prolific musical journey alongside drummer Cleber Almeida and pianist Andre Marques, Trio Curupira has recorded three CDs, the third of which was nominated for a Latin Grammy, besides appearing on numerous festivals in Brazil and abroad. At the same time, Fabio Gouvea was able to establish a solid career for himself in the Brazilian instrumental music scene by sharing the stage with such great artists as Hermeto Pascoal, Hamilton de Holanda and Arismar do Espírito Santo among others, as well as performing extensively on important venues and music festivals in Brazil, Latin America, USA and Europe. During this period, Fabio Gouvea was also invited to be part of the faculty at the renowned Conservatório Dramático e Musical Dr. Carlos de Campos in Tatuí, São Paulo, where he has been teaching electric guitar since 2003.
In early 2011, Fabio was able to combine all the musical paths he had followed so far into the forming of his own quartet, devoted to develop and perform his own original compositions which he had been writing since he was 16 years old. After a period of intense rehearsals and performances throughout the state of São Paulo, ‘Fabio Gouvea Quarteto’ released in 2012 its first CD with original compositions as well as arrangements written by Fabio of Brazilian classic songs. Entitled ‘Recomeço’, the CD also features as special guests renowned Brazilian musicians Vinicius Dorin and Sergio Santos.
In 2013 Fabio Gouvea released his second solo album entitled ‘So Close, So Far’, recorded at Avatar Studios in New York, USA, alongside drummer Rogério Boccato and bassist Felipe Brisola. The CD also brings in special guests of world renown, such as american saxophonist Donny McCaslin and french pianist JeanMichel Pilc.
In 2014 Fabio Gouvea released his third solo album entitled ‘Escolha’, recorded at Water Music Studio, USA, alongside drummer Alexandre Kautz and bassist Felipe Brisola. The CD also brings in special guests of world renown, such as american saxophonist John Ellis and pianist Helen Sung.
