Sweet sounding and mellifluous, Luiza Sales is a Brazilian singer, composer and educator specializing in Brazilian, Jazz, and Latin American music.
Luiza began her musical journey at a young age of 8 playing the violin and singing in choirs. She completed her Bachelor in Music Education at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2010. Her love for Brazilian music set her sights on developing her singer-songwriter abilities.
Performing and winning in various festivals in Rio de Janeiro, she was also one of the finalists in Carioca da Gema’s talent contest.
In 2012 Luiza released her first solo album Breve Leveza, which features songs written by Luiza, Rosa Passos and Djavan. The successful album was produced by Daniel Garica and has an eclectic vibe that features elements of Brazilian music from samba, bossa nova and baiao.
She is the first Brazilian to hold a Masters degree in Contemporary Performance from the Berklee College of Music, Valencia campus in 2015. She won the Berklee Lollapalooza scholarship and had a wonderful experience performing in Europe.
The Meninas do Brasil project is an interesting concept created by Luzia where she focused on Brazilian female songwriters and worked with ten guest artists and released 20 videos and produced two live concerts.
She also had the privilege to open for Hamilton de Hollanda, one of Brazil’s popular instrumental and Jazz artists.
Luiza has coached numerous vocal students in Brazil, guided and coached choirs and has a passion for teaching.
Her latest album Aventureira was released in 2015. Rolling Stone- Brazil described Luiza as having a sweet voice and an infectious swing with a great mood.
