Rubens De La Corte

Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Rubens De La Corte started studying classical guitar at the age of 9 and electric guitar by age 13. In 1998, Rubens graduated Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of music and later completed his Masters degree in Jazz performance at the Queens College, NY where he studied with artists like Sir Roland Hanna, Wayne Krantz and others.Rubens’s talent gained widespread recognition as he became the musical director and guitar player for Sony/Columbia records artist and multi-Grammy Nominee and winner Angelique Kidjo, one of the biggest names in world music today. He made a stellar contribution to her worldwide best selling album ‘Black Ivory Soul’ and toured with her in Japan, Australia, Europe, The Caribbean, Africa, USA and more. He also regularly performs and tours around the world with Brazilian piano sensation Eliane Elias. Rubens’ own band Brazz Jazz has toured in the US and Brazil and released a CD Kick off your shoes.

Rubens has performed with such superstars as Carlos Santana, Peter Gabriel, Alicia Keys, Michelle Branch, Dave Mathews, Diane Reeves, TrilokGurtu, Philip Glass, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Willie Nelson, Josh Groban, Jessye Norman, Ziggy Marley and others. He has performed at prestigious events and venues such as 2002 Nobel Peace Prize concert, Montreux Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Jamaica Jazz Festival, Ravinia festival, Carnegie Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Hollywood Bowl etc and has appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, MTV, VH1, Hamburg TV, Stockholm TV4 Sweden, TV5 France etc.
