 Vardan OvsepianBorn in Armenia, Vardan Ovsepian started playing piano at the age of 5 and was soon accepted into the Junior music school where he studied for 8 years. He went on to study at Melikyan college, majoring in Music Theory. Vardan has studied at major institutions around the world including Classical Composition at Yerevan State Conservatory in Armenia, Contemporary Composition at Estonian Music Academy in Estonia, Jazz and improvised music at Helsinki Jazz Conservatory and Piano performance at Berklee College of Music.

Vardan brings an eclectic mix of influences to his music and has found a unique voice for himself on the piano as a composer and improviser. He performs several solo piano concerts and also performs with such jazz masters as Mick Goodrick, Jerry Bergonzi, Peter Erskine and many others. Vardan taught at the Musical Suite in Newburyport near Boston for many years. He has also performed and taught master classes at Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, Alaska, Maine Jazz Camp, Towson University, Susquehanna University, Bucknell University , Wheeler School, Estonian Music Academy and several others. Vardan has released 4 CDs for the Barcelona based label Fresh Sound Records, apart from an independent release of the Vardan Ovsepian chamber ensemble.
