Born in Spain, Rili Vizcaino is an Raphaëlle Brochet is a unique vocalist who grew up in the world of jazz and trained in South Indian Classical music. Her innate talent for improvisation and her exceptional sense of rhythm, combined with her mastering of solkattu and Persian singing makes her one of the most astounding vocalist of the European Jazz and World Music scene.

Born to musician parents, Raphaëlle Brochet grew up in the world of jazz and was destined to become a performer. She started her career at the age of 17 by recording an album with Floris Nico-Bunink (Mingus, Billy Holliday) under the label Daybreak.

After intense training in the Conservatory in France in music and dance, and after graduating in Jazz Performance from the Nantes Conservatory, she received a full scholarship from Wesleyan University and learned from renown master of Carnatic music, Taiko, Balinese dance and gamelan, Ghanian dance, along with the classes of Anthony Braxton. She then got a Master of Ethnomusicology, graduating from one of the most renown Universities of the world.

Her Carnatic training includes masters such as Sarada Thota, Balu Balasubrahmaniyan and Catherine Zalay for the singing, and Ghatam Govindarajan and David Nelson for the konnakol.Raphaëlle’s collaborations are incredibly diverse and include musicians from various backgrounds (Jazz, Iranian, Indian, Electro, Classical) but also film directors (Amin Moghadam), theatre directors (Patrick Palmer), comedians (Sam Magdi) and dancers (Anand Satchidanandan, Shoko Yamamuro).She got invited for workshops and master classes at the Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music (South India), ICOM Berklee Asia (Kuala Lumpur), McGill University (Montreal), Paris Sorbonne (France), the Urban School of San Francisco (US) and more.Currently based in Brussels, Raphaëlle teaches and performs around the world.
