Production workshop – Class description
Recording Audio: Then and Now
Students get to know the evolution of recording & audio engineering through the ages. The fundamentals of audio & the future of it discussed in-depth, will broaden the student’s understanding of recording & processing audio in various industries
The topic will discuss the vast world of broadcast engineer. The working processes involved in the world of radio & television broadcasting & the various parameters involved in understanding the audio requirements of the industry.
These are practical sessions at the S.A.M. studio understanding the various recording processes and recording techniques used by various producers & musicians around the world. Recording Lab starts with initial set-up, analysis and studio maintenance. Students participate in hands on approach and demonstration on all the techniques emphasizing on microphone choices and mic placement technique, Console design and grids. Students will also have hands on approaches on recording live musicians in the studio.
This course explores the many creative and technical considerations necessary to mix in today’s music production environment, regardless of platform or format. This course teaches the different steps of the mixing process, including equalization, panning, dynamic processing (compressors, gates, expanders, and limiters), reverb and delays, as well as automation techniques and practical examples. The techniques presented apply to any Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), or digital or analog console.
Programming and Sequencing:
This course gives the students an in-depth knowledge of programming, Study of Digital Audio Workstation( DAW), Programming in software Sequences such as Ableton live, Step-writing, Score Writing. Re-wiring two DAWs, Sampling and romplers, Sampling in samplers, Midi programming.
Performance Workshop – Class description
Students are placed in different labs according to their proficiency on the instrument. Topics covered could range from simple scales to modern improvisation, rhythms, techniques and more.
Certain core subjects are studied by all musicians at SAM such as harmony, ear training and music notation. Camp students will get a sampling of these classes.
Each member of our faculty specializes in certain areas. Master classes are a way of introducing camp students to those topics. Check back on this page for updates on these topics.
Musicians are put into bands or ensembles, each one directed by a faculty member. This is one of the most important practical classes, where you get to learn how to play with other musicians, and put your theoretical knowledge into practice. The camp ends with an ensemble recital at the end of the five days
