Lukas Mantel

Lukas Mantel

Drums

Playing piano since his childhood, he made his first steps toward performing on drums at the age of sixteen. Playing a wide range of musical genres from jazz and free improvisation, to orchestral music and complexly arranged settings, he developed his own brand of drumming. Aside from being a responsible timekeeper, his choice of sound and texture is always a main contribution to the music he’s involved in. With high sensibility and fast reaction he’s able to bring energy and groove to any context, using unorthodox tools to widen the sound spectrum of his bands. Following his love for carnatic and ethnic music, translating traditional rhythms on the drumset he’s constantly expanding his own musical vocabulary. Lukas Mantel has played many festivals in Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East with these groups or artists such as: Pierre Favre & The Drummers, B. Shree Sundarkumar, Barry Guy, Nathanael Su, Karoliina Kantelinen, Omri Ziegele, Christian Weber, Lucien Dubuis, Michael Fehr, Christoph Stiefel, Phillip Schaufelberger, Hans-Peter Pfammatter, Vera Kappeler, Wolfgang Zwiauer, Antonello Messina, Fausto Beccalossi, Christoph Irniger, David Gisler, Marc Méan, Tobias Meier, Claudio Puntin
