Ron Cha

Ronojit Chaliha aka. Ron Cha is a Jazz Pianist who trained in Western Classical Piano initially and crossed over to Jazz and improvised music. Ron is a recipient of the 1st A.R. Rahman 100% Full Scholarship to Berklee College of Music. He has toured America, Europe and Asia with artistes such as the Ferenc Németh, Gregory Tardy, Jacques Schwarz-Bart and his own projects as a bandleader. He has performed and recorded alongside many great artistes such as Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Dennis Montgomery III, Ferenc Németh, Stephanie McKay, Loy Mendonsa, Gino Banks, and many others. He has attained accolades from some of the best musicians such as Anomalie, DOMi, Rob Araujo, Alain Mallet, Ed Saindon, Shankar Mahadevan, Clinton Cerejo, Dhruv Ghanekar, Papon, Zubin Garg, Vishal Dadlani and Loy Mendonsa. Ron is currently working on his Solo Piano record and the Jazz with an Attitude (JWA) project featuring Jacques Schwarz-Bart on Saxophone and Isaiah Weatherspoon on Drums. Internationally, he has performed at the prestigious Caux Theater in Caux, Switzerland, SXSW Austin, Sculler’s Jazz Club, Boston and has toured around Spain with Ferenc Németh and Gregory Tardy. In 2013, Ron scored the highest score in the Trinity College of Music Advance Recital Certificate Classical Piano Examination in India and holds the record till date. Most recently, Ron along with Jacques Schwarz-Bart (Tenor Sax) and Isaiah Weatherspoon (Drums) founded a brand new project named “Jazz With An Attitude (JWA)” signed under the prestigious German label, Enja Records.
